Week 4 Rankings

Welcome to Week 4, start of the bye weeks.  So keep in mind both the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers have the bye this week.  Me being from Pittsburgh, and not a Steelers fan, it will be a nice change of pace to not have to here the constant analysis leading up to the game and then the incessant moaning and complaining after the Steelers lose.  Although I will say, after the Steelers lose, I do get a modicum of enjoyment listening to everyone act like the season is over.

Now, let's talk about the important stuff;  the freaking Monday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers (my favorite team) and the Seattle Seahwaks.  First let me say I understand why people think sports is rigged from time to time with that atrocity of a call on the last play of the game.  Secondly, let me say that I've seen the referees huddle over a simple false start penalty and take a minute to figure out what the hell they are supposed to do, yet on the last play of the game no such huddle occurred at all.  What the hell?!  One ref calls interception and the other calls touchdown.  You don't think that disagreement should result in a referee huddle?  Where the hell was the stupid head referee?  Not doing his damn job, that's where he was!!!!  Just utterly ridiculous.

Now that I've gotten the anger out of the way, let's move on to the rankings.  Because of the bye weeks and injuries you may see some players in the 35-40 range for both RB and WR that normally aren't there, but if you need to stretch someone, I suggest you take a look at them.

As always, any questions, thoughts, concerns, either post a comment or e-mail mattymccall@gmail.com.

Week 3 Rankings

Greetings loyal followers (I think someone from an Eastern European country is reading this, so however you say hello in your language, hello)!!!

First and foremost, Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw are NOT PLAYING tomorrow on the Thursday night game against the Carolina Panthers.  Hakeem Nicks is quite perplexing since he just put up 199 yards receiving this past week, but apparently his surgically repaired foot is hurting after all that use this past Sunday.  Therefore he sits.  My analysis is that the targets have to go somewhere, and that someone is going to be the tight end Martellus Bennett.  If he's in your league and you are weak at the TE position, I'd say pick him up.  Certainly worth a gamble, particularly since he did score a TD this past week.

Second, for you owners of Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Matthew Stafford (owners which include myself), hang in there.  Their seasons, whether real or fantasy, have been pretty mediocore so far.  ButI say don't panic.  You drafted these guys in the first or second round, so you're going to live or die by them unless you get one hell of a trade offer (like a top 5 RB and top 5 WR) and your backup quarterback is Robert Griffin III.  I'm inclined to think that what we've seen from all 3 for the first 2 weeks is only an anomaly.  You can't keep former league MVPs like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady down, and regardless of what happens with the Lions, you always know Matthew Stafford is going to throw for near 300 yards every week cause the Lions love throwing the ball.

With that out of the way, take a peek at the rankings below and if you have any questions e-mail mattymccall@yahoo.com or post a comment.  Thanks for reading!!

Week 2 Rankings

Well here we are.  First official rankings of the year.  I would have had them up sooner tonight but Angelina Jolie has been on FX for the last 4 hours and she is rather distracting.  But you would think that seeing the same movies at least 3 to 4 times each would be enough.  Again though, it's Angelina Jolie.

Enough about her though.  The rankings seem pretty straight forward, except for I will mention the fact that Greg Jennings is not ranked anywhere within the top 50 wide receivers.  As of right now he is listed as doubtful with a groin injury, which as a Packers fan makes me not too happy.  My personal feelings aside, Green Bay plays the Chicago Bears on this weeks Thursday night game, making the possibility of Jennings playing in my mind about 15%.  That's not enough to put him in the top 50, so he's excluded this week.  As a result, you will see that Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and James Jones are ranked slightly higher than normal.

Other than that, nothing too out of the ordinary.  So as always, if you have any questions, thoughts, concerns, you can post a comment to this post or you can e-mail me at mattymccall@gmail.com.  Your choice.

May the Fantasy Football gods be with you.
