That’s all she wrote folks. The 2010-2011 Fantasy Football Season has finally ended. With the end of season comes a feeling of sadness, depression, and loneliness. Well only sadness to me, as I love fantasy football and will miss staring at my laptop from Thursday through Monday night, praying that Calvin Johnson would get one more catch or that Ray Rice would finally find the end zone. And I will miss my weekly articles and rankings.
As for depression and loneliness, if you feel those emotions, you might want to reevaluate your life. There’s a lot more to life than just fantasy football. There’s real football (you know, the playoffs), fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball, there’s March Madness, and maybe there’s work or a wife. (Just kidding to my wife. After fantasy football, you know you’re #2. Just kidding again. You’re #1, then fantasy football, then Duke Basketball, then the two cats)
Regardless of your priorities though, don’t forget that although the fantasy football season may be over, there is still plenty of work to be done in order to prepare for next year. I myself have been gathering stats all year and compiling spreadsheets that will hopefully help me analyze in great detail each player, position, and team in the NFL. I plan on sharing some of those spreadsheets as well as my conclusions derived from those spreadsheets throughout the offseason. On top of that, I plan on taking a look at the incoming rookies that most likely will be drafted within the first couple of rounds, and ranking them at some point.
So while the season is over, there is still much work to be done if you want to have a chance to win next year. Of course I might be going completely overboard in your opinion, and to be honest, I kind of agree with you. Nonetheless, all the stat gathering and all the analysis is my idea of a good time. I love finding new and improved ways to rank players that I think will give me (and you by default since you read this blog), an edge up on the competition. I will cross my fingers that the people I play against (like my buddy Todd), don’t read my blog too often or in too much detail. But the rest of you, I hope everything I provide in the offseason is beneficial to you. On that note, I bid thee farewell. It’s been a wonderful first season on “The Fantasy Football Consigliere,” and I hope there will be many more seasons to come. I don’t know when the next article will post, but I am planning on doing a season end wrap up at some point in the near future, possibly talking about the surprise fantasy studs and duds for the year and ranking the top players for each position for the 2011-2012 season.
So stay tuned and if your team is still in the real NFL playoffs (such as my Green Bay Packers), good luck to them and I hope that if they play the Packers at some point, they lose. Ciao from The Consigliere!
